A miracle. A gift. A sage in her own right.

The death of Ice (c.June 2007) - an Alaskan malamute fondly known for her present focus and absolute joy for each and every day of her life -
ushered in the era of a most beautiful and remarkable dawggie named Sensei. What a guy.

Follow the exploits of this wild, wiggly, and wonderful German/German shepherd puppy - who at 15 weeks is already showing signs of the thoroughly capable therapy dog he is in training to become.

Sensei, meaning Teacher. Instructor. A term of respect for the knowing ways. One look into his eyes, and he will see through yours to that place of truth; and he will join you there and love you because ... well, because he is a dog. That’s what dogs teach us. Balance is the mission of the Sensei.

Follow the growth and meanderings of this crazy-ass puppy as he fumbles and tumbles his way towards the work of his lifetime; to companion the scared who are immersed in their grief, and to sit knowingly and lovingly with those who are transitioning from this world forward.

A watchful shepherd to guide ... now and then again.

Once again I am blessed well beyond worth with the company of an extra-ordinary companion who says more in a gesture or an extended paw than I say in an hour.

Less is so often more. I have a couple of great teachers.

May I rise to their occasions. With gratitude for all the lessons.

Sensei, indeed.
